Today, actor Sharon Gless takes on the brave title role in the new independent film Hannah Free. While a longtime activist on behalf of the LGBT community, this is the first time that Gless has played a lesbian character—a woman in the Depression-era midwest who travels the world while leaving her lover, a traditional homemaker, behind to deal with her own confused sexuality. Gless’s performance in Hannah Free reaffirms her act- ing prowess, her unassuming style, and her considerable creative sensibilities. GO spoke with Gless about her experience playing a lesbian and her future projects.
