The L Word: New York Season 1 Is Confirmed

This is not a drill.

Lesbians, don’t freak out, but The L Word is making yet another comeback. According to ScreenRant, The L Word: New York Season 1 is actually happening.

As of right now, it’s not certain which of The L Word or The L Word: Generation Q castmembers will be returning. However, it’s rumored that Leisha Hailey might bring Alice back for a third time (even though Alice says New York coffee tastes like “poopie shit”).  According to Out, Alice is “the heart of The L Word universe.”

While the details are still hush-hush, this series is a “reboot of the groundbreaking original series set in New York City.” This likely means we’re in for even more intense dramas, heartfelt romances, and personal journeys that got us hooked on the original series. Even with the few details that are given, the use of the word “reboot” is important as Gen Q was specifically a sequel, while the New York series seems to be a continuation of the original series.

Even if we don’t get the beloved cast from the original L Word and Gen Q, there are so many queer actors and actresses that could really bring this reboot to life. Imagine the potential for fresh talent to shine and bring new perspectives to the screen (it is The Year of the Lesbian, after all). The representation of diverse LGBTQ+ experiences could enrich the storylines, offering viewers even more relatable and engaging content. Plus, the chance to discover new fan favorites is always exciting, adding another layer of anticipation to this much-anticipated reboot.

Despite the series’ ups and downs, its loyal fanbase and unifying nature are what make the show so special. The level of drama is off the charts, and that’s why we can’t get enough of it. Whenever the series finally airs, best believe we will be tuning in.
