On March 10, the Human Rights Campaign revealed that drag icon RuPaul and beloved actress and advocate Lisa Kudrow will grace this year’s HRC Los Angeles Dinner, to be held on March 28 at Fairmont Century Plaza. In February, HRC announced that Michael Patrick King, writer and director of Sex and the City, would an honoree and was slated to receive HRC’s Visibility Award “for his work uplifting LGBTQ+ stories on screen and bringing visibility for the LGBTQ+ community in the entertainment world.” Additional highlights for the upcoming event include a live auction hosted by comedian honoree Dana Goldberg.

HRC is the largest civil rights organization in the United States working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people. The Los Angeles Dinner will bring the non-profit’s most active advocates, members and supporters across the state under one roof to raise funds in the quest for LGBTQ+ equality.

“We are so pleased to host icons RuPaul and Lisa Kudrow, whose talents and brilliance have helped to expand equality on and off screen. Alongside our honoree, Michael Patrick King — whose work has brought so much joy, laughter and heart to our community — this event will truly be a night to remember,” said Kelley Robinson, Human Rights Campaign President, in the announcement. “As our community faces targeted attacks on our rights and freedoms, it is more important than ever that we come together under the shared mission of building better and brighter futures in California and beyond.“

“The inclusion of LGBTQ+ narratives is integral for meaningful storytelling. Our stories are an undeniable part of the human experience and they deserve to be told in every medium,” added LGBTQ+ Writer, Director and Producer Michael Patrick King. “As our community faces attempts to exclude us on and off screen, it is important that we continue to unapologetically make our voices heard. I’m thrilled to have my accomplishments recognized and to be joined in this work by advocates from Los Angeles and beyond.”

RuPaul achieved stardom as host of TV phenomenon Drag Race, and has earned 14 Emmy awards, a Tony Award, and his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Lisa Kudrow, an Emmy Award-winning actress, is most noted for playing the role of Phoebe on the massively successful series, Friends. She is also co-creator of the HBO series The Comeback along with honoree Michael Patrick King.

Last year, HRC honored Janelle Monáe (Equality Award), Hannah Einbinder (Visibility Award), and Ashley Park (Impact Award).

Additional honorees and guests for 2026 will be announced in the coming weeks.
