Is that a technical or just technicolor silicone?

Towards the end of an intense game between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries, with just a minute left in the fourth quarter, a flash of neon green made its way onto the court mid-air. For a game that already promised three-pointers and technicals, no one expected this kind of airborne object.
The referee blew the whistle and stopped the game. Fans and players watched in anticipation, confused by what just happened. In a video clip of the incident that has now gone viral, a police officer makes their way to the neon green object where the commentator says, “Nobody’s picked the object up yet, and—oh my gosh,” as the camera pans, and the object is revealed: a neon green dildo.

“Not very pg13,” read the caption of a TikTok created by Valkyrie player Laeticia Amihere, which featured teammate Kaitlyn Chen recreating their reactions to the discovery of a neon green dildo on the court.

The hilarious Indiana Fever guard Sydney Colson also had to make an announcement about the incident, first saying on X, “Sorry I did NOT mean to throw that so far y’all.”
Colson ran with the joke even further, teasing the latest episode for the Unsupervised Podcast featuring her and Theresa Plaisance—where the infamous green dildo makes a bold cameo. Dubbed “The Mean Green” on the show, Colson appears decked out in all green. An Instagram account has also been made for the official Mean Green, with the handle @flyingmeangreen.

Most reactions to the unexpected appearance of the dildo were lighthearted and humorous, though a few people expressed discomfort, calling the incident unsettling or even creepy.
“The dildo on the floor at the wnba game is not funny to me like I hate to ruin the “fun” but that don’t seem creepy and assaulty and overly freaked out and dangerous to you?” One fan wrote on X.
Although a PA announcement was made during the break, warning fans not to throw objects onto the court, the incident had already occurred. There are no updates as to whether the person responsible has been identified, but it’s important that we show respect to the players we come to watch.
