French President Macron And His Wife To Offer U.S. Court ‘Scientific Proof’ That She’s Not A Man

“Enough is enough” – The Macrons are hauling conservative influencer Candace Owens to court to combat false claims that France’s first lady is not a woman.

Some headlines are almost too embarrassing to write, and news too ludicrous to seem real. But it’s true: France’s President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte will subject themselves to providing “scientific and photographic evidence” that she is a woman at an upcoming trial against right-wing American podcaster, Candace Owens. The lawsuit was filed in July in response to Owens’ baseless claims that the French first lady is a man. The Macrons seek damages on 22 counts, and say they have suffered “substantial economic damages” as a result of the lies about Brigitte. The suit, filed in Delaware, accuses the influencer of running “a relentless year-long campaign of defamation.”

Their attorney, Tom Clare, told CNN, “This was really a last resort. We have attempted to engage with [Owens] and for the last year, putting evidence in front of her… ” Clare stated that they repeatedly requested that she simply do the right thing. “Tell the truth. Stop spreading these lies.” He said, “Each time we’ve done that, she mocked the Macrons, she mocked our efforts to set the record straight. Enough is enough, it was time to hold her accountable.”

The Macrons say Owens’ campaign of defamation was plainly designed to harass and garner notoriety. Clare told BBC that there are existing images of Brigitte Macron pregnant and raising her children, and that they would be presented in court.

The origins of Owens’ hate-driven conspiracy theory can be traced to 2017, when blogger Natacha Rey claimed that Brigitte was actually her own brother, Jean-Michel Trogneux and that she had undergone gender reassignment surgery; later, Rey spent hours on video with self-proclaimed fortune teller, Amandine Roy (real name, Delphine Jegousse), spreading the unsubstantiated allegations.

The lies went viral just prior to France’s 2022 presidential election and one month later, the Macrons sued. Rey and Roy were found guilty of slander in 2024, for falsely stating that France’s first lady was transgender, and ordered to pay damages: $8,000 to Brigitte and $5,000 to her brother. However, in July 2025, citing freedom of expression considerations, a Paris appeals court overturned the conviction, ruling that the allegations did not constitute defamation, and that the duo had made the mistake in “good faith.”

Owens has over 4 million YouTube subscribers and 7 million followers on X. This year, she has also been busy broadcasting a YouTube series she calls, Becoming Brigitte. We could tell you more specifically about the contents, but that would mean watching all eight episodes and relegating hours of our precious lives to a waste bin. Suffice it to say that Candace Owens is someone who has also stated that Macron was chosen by a CIA mind-control experiment to become president of France.
