Chloë Grace Moretz has publicly come out as gay while endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election. In an Instagram post, the 27-year-old actress expressed her support for #harriswalz2024, highlighting her belief that decisions regarding her body should be made solely by herself and her doctor, and underscoring the need for legal protections for the LGBTQ+ community while identifying herself as a “gay woman.”
Fans have long speculated about Moretz’s sexuality, and on Valentine’s Day 2023, many interpreted an Instagram post to be soft-confirmation of her queerness. LA model Kate Harrison posted a story of the two snuggled together, captioned “Happy Valentine’s Day,” which Moretz later shared. The couple has been romantically linked since 2018, when they were spotted kissing outside Nobu Malibu and at Soho House.
Moretz has not officially come out until now, but she has been a strong advocate for queer and trans rights. She is known for representing queer youth through her roles in The Miseducation of Cameron Post and Nimona, and recently, she shared comments from trans actress Alexandra Billings that condemned a wave of anti-gay and anti-trans legislation.
Both of Moretz’s brothers are openly gay and she “grew up fighting on their behalf,” she told Gay Times. “So I took it upon myself with their blessing to go out there and talk about it, and to tell people, ‘Hey, being gay is not a big deal at all. But be proud and be out there and raise the flag high. Be a part of the community, and be for the community.’
In her post endorsing Harris, Moretz, who voted early for the Vice President, encouraged her 24 million followers to vote. “We need protections in this country and to have access to the care we need and deserve.
