South African-born, multi-disciplinary fashion designer Daniella Kallmeyer founded her fierce, fresh brand on quality, sustainability, women’s empowerment, entrepreneurial empowerment, and a passion for domestic production. After transferring from Syracuse University and graduating with honors from the London College of Fashion, she honed her experience launching private-label brands and working with acclaimed luxury and ready-to-wear designers such as Alexander McQueen, Proenza Schouler, Luca Luca, Les Chiffoniers, Jen Kao, and Alice + Olivia. That was all before before starting her own women’s collection in 2010. The next year, Kallmeyer was hand-selected to join the nation’s top entrepreneurs and trailblazers under the age of 30 at OurTime.org’s “Buy Young” summit on Capitol Hill, where she discussed job creation and the barriers, opportunities, and innovations in small business growth. She says the experience had lasting effects: “Participating in that event has been a milestone for me professionally and personally that continues to inspire me to be the change I wish to see in the world. It has empowered me to connect with others with similar visions and values.” This year, get ready for the Daniella Kallmeyer collection and full line of accessories in big-city specialty stores across the country. –QW
