The Internet Is Losing It Over The First Glimpse Of Lady Gaga As Harley Quinn

February 16, 2023

Harley Quinn is known to be bisexual, and fans are excited for Gaga to bring queer vibes to the role.

Joker director Todd Phillips gave Little Monster the best Valentine’s Day gift our hearts could ever desire: a first glimpse of Lady Gaga in the film sequel “Joker: Folie à Deux.”

The snapshot of Gaga’s unhinged stare into Joaquin Phoenix’s eyes is circulating around the internet, getting fans excited for the pop icon’s role as DC character Harley Quinn, who she will play opposite Phoenix as the Joker.

The first Joker film followed Arthur Fleck’s (Phoenix) origin story as a clown and failed comedian who then starts a life of violent crime. Many fans speculate that the sequel film will spotlight Harley Quinn’s own origin story, who was a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum before she became the Joker’s partner. Harley Quinn is also known to be bisexual, and fans are excited for Gaga to bring queer vibes to the role.

“It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way like Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor,” Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn in three major films, told MTV News last October.  She said of Gaga taking over the role, “It’s such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing. I think she’ll do something incredible with it.”
