Thinning of the Veil, AfriKunt’s pop up exhibition, welcomes and nurtures our rage, grief, happiness, and curiosity. It dives into the complex and infinite emotions of the Black existence by opening portals through dance, music, and art. An interactive ritual activated by the attendees’ participation and enjoyment.

Thinning of the Veil and AfriKunt are an intergenerational diasporic weaving of Blackness, highlighting Transness/Queerness. We foster movement and knowledge towards total liberation and joy, where we move away from infiltrating institutions and create our own space to voice our experiences, beliefs, and hopes for now and the future. This allows us to be present in receiving our ancestral guides to move unapologetically and steadfast towards our ultimate freedom.

Showcasing works from artists who stray away from discipline and embody experimentation, their practice encourages viewers to be playful and actively challenge and resist the ideas of the world and ourselves as we know it.
