Pride Month: Lavender Light Gospel Choir
June 16 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm EDT
Free
Founded in 1985, the Lavender Light Gospel Choir brings together members from diverse ethnic and spiritual backgrounds. Dedicated to preserving the rich tradition of Black gospel music, the choir provides a supportive space for Black lesbians and gays. Their repertoire spans old-time gospel, spirituals, and inspirational songs, as well as pop anthems reimagined with a 21st-century, praise-filled spirit.
Selections include Lead with Love, This Little Light of Mine, and more. Past performances have featured in Urban Bush Women’s Praise House, the pilot episode of In the Life, the People of Color Joint Kwanzaa Ceremony, and Mayor David N. Dinkins’ Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at City Hall, among other notable events.
