We are delighted to announce two new additions to the GO family! Nicole Matte has come on board as the magazine’s new associate editor and nightlife editor. Amber Martinez joins us as the marketing coordinator.
Nicole Matte has a degree in sport management and helped found her university’s gay-straight alliance. She’s the daughter of two journalists/editors/professors, who instilled in her a love for the English language. Not surprisingly, she always dreamed of working for an LGBT publication. “I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the GO team,” she says. “GO has given our community a feeling of belonging and a way to stay connected to the lesbian world for over a decade. When you’re part of a community that has so many people who feel the need to hide or who feel alone, ostracized, or too different to matter, that is invaluable. I know I have benefited from it, and I look forward to being able to help further and improve upon the good work that this publication has done and will continue to do.”
Not only a marketing whiz, Amber Martinez is a self-described “huge supporter of lesbian nightlife,” a gal-about-town who’s always interested in finding new spots to check out. She also has a passion (and a compassion) for the LGBT community. “My friends are as loyal as they come, and I believe that the lesbian community needs to be united more in many ways. As a Pisces, I am as compassionate as it gets! I’m thrilled to start working with GO to help bring together an amazing community I love so much,” Martinez said. “I am truly, truly excited to be a part of the only magazine of its kind.”
“We’re all very excited to welcome Nicole and Amber to the GO family,” said Amy Lesser, publisher and editor-in-chief. “They each bring exuberance and creativity to the team, and we’re all very excited to head into our lucky 13th year with the help of these talented young women!”
Our new dynamic duo will represent and promote GO through our sponsored events, public relations and published materials. They’re joining GO’s current deputy publisher, Kate Frawley, and managing editor, Shannon Leigh O’Neil, as well as a number of volunteers, interns and freelancers working to engage our readers.
