On October 25-27 at NYU Skirball, New York City Ballet soloist and choreographer Troy Schumacher will debut a new work with his experimental dance group BalletCollective called Translation. I thought that you might be interested in letting your readers know about the performance…

Translation explores the rapid evolution of communication we’re experiencing today: the abbreviation of words, the mediation of reality through screens, artificial intelligence, machine vision, and more. The program will include the premiere of two new ballets choreographed by Troy Schumacher and Gabrielle Lamb, commissioned scores by Julianna Barwick and Caleb Burhans. With movements inspired by source art from Trevor Paglen and cult sci-fi writer Ken Liu, dancers from the New York City ballet will perform the works inside a futuristic setting designed by Chilean artist Sergio Diaz.

Below is more information, the full release, and a selection of images. Please let me know if I can provide more information!

All my best,
Abby
