In this panel and discussion on NYC transgender history, Kiara St. James, Tanya Asapansa Johnson Walker and Nicole Bowles reflect on politics and community in the 1980s and ‘90s. Each are long-standing trans movement organizers and trans women of color. All three are leaders in the New York Transgender Advocacy Group (NYTAG). The panelists will discuss life before the recent increase in trans visibility, followed by discussion. The event is presented by NYC Transgender Advocacy Group Oral History Project and NYTAG, and is co-sponsored by the New York Public Library.
