Lucy Jane Bledsoe (“A Thin Bright Line”) and Sarah Schulman (“The Cosmopolitans”) converse about their queer historical novels. Bledsoe’s novel tells the true story of her aunt and namesake, a lesbian who worked at a highly classified government job during the McCarthy Era and Civil Rights Movement. Schulman’s novel takes place in 1950s Greenwich Village and spins the complex friendship between a black, gay actor and a white secretary.
