TILLOU FINE ART will present REMAINS TO BE SEEN, a comprehensive solo presentation of painting, collages, and works on paper by Brooklyn-based artist JOHN SPINKS, opening October 25th 2017. In this exhibition, John Spinks explores the mutable relationship between what we see and what we know. The works can have a soft, tender dreaminess or a graphic mystery; sometimes they combine both. The letters, maps, and musical scores in REMAINS TO BE SEEN seems to guide the artist, and his allegiance to them gives the work its power. They merge in forms that celebrate the imperfect and come, in the artist’s words, “straight off the nervous system”.
