Join this up close and personal discussion with Dr. Marci Bowers, a champion of the community, as we learn of her personal journey and commitment to equity in the field of medicine.

A pelvic and gynecological surgeon with more than 26 years of experience, Dr. Bowers is a pioneer as the first woman worldwide to hold a personal transgender history while performing transgender surgery, a leader in the field of Genital Reassignment Surgery, the first US surgeon to learn the technique of functional clitoral restoration after Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

Celebrated within her profession, she has been highlighted in numerous documentaries, serves on the board of directors for both GLAAD and the Transgender Law Center and was recognized as one of Huffington Post’s 50 Transgender Icons.

Joining Dr. Bowers in conversation is Dr. Barbara E. Warren, Director of LGBT Programs and Policies in the Office for Diversity and Inclusion at Mount Sinai Health System. Dr. Warren founded The Center’s Gender Identity Project, one of the first transgender peer counseling and support programs in the country.
