||BOUND || exhibit and fundraiser. A meditation on the female bond through still and moving imagery.

||BOUND || grew as a response to the current cultural and sociopolitical climate. A look at the dichotomy of women being bound – bound to one another in unity, solidarity, femininity, strength, experience, sisterhood …But also bound to expectations, oppression, cultural and societal pressures, dogmas, history, judgements.

The imagery brings together the symbolic and literal. Women bound to one another by their hair. A physical and figurative bond among women. Hair-an extension of our most intimate and most visible selves, of our history- femininity, identity, power, class, culture, individuality, beauty – femaleness- all bound to hair.

Julie Asriyan is an actor, producer and multi-platform artist. Her creative work extends to film/TV, theater, print photography, writing, movement, web, and mixed-media content. Her recent work draws focus on and explores the female experience through transmedia storytelling.

A graduate of Pace University and William Esper Studio acting conservatory, Julie is a New York Innovative Theater Awards nominee for Outstanding Actress in a Featured Role. She is a member of Women in the Arts & Media Coalition as well as New York Women in Film and Television.
Julie is the co-creator of Casting Call | The Project, a viral web video project with over 2.6 million views, covered in New York Magazine, Huffington Post, Adweek, Nylon, Vice, BuzzFeed, Cosmo, IndieWire, WifeyTV, LA Magazine to name some, and dubbed “Must Watch video” by RogerEbert.com.

Julie is a multicultural and multilingual artist who arrived with her family to United States as refugees in the early 90’s. She dedicates || BOUND || to the strength and resilience of today’s refugees and immigrants, to those fighting for the voices and rights of women, immigrants and minorities.

All profits from the sale of tickets and prints will be donated to the International Rescue Committee and Planned Parenthood.
