The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will host its annual Kids Week festival from Saturday, February 15–Saturday, February 22. During Kids Week, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in dozens of fun-filled activities, live animal shows, hands-on workshops, performances, special guests, 3D experiences and interactive demonstrations that the whole family will enjoy.

The Kids Week theme is Full STEAM Ahead where science, technology, engineering, arts, math and fun take center stage. Through themed daily activities, kids can explore space and science, engage with the arts and music and learn all about animals.

Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, February 16, Kids Week will explore arts and music fun. Kids can enjoy a storytime performance by Paddington Bear, make their own puppets and origami, solve some out-of-the-box problems with Rosie Revere, learn about the history of 3D film and photography and enjoy a live performance by Joshua David Stein and his ensemble The Band Books.

Monday, February 17 through Wednesday, February 19, families can discover a safari and nature adventure. Kids will have the opportunity to meet animal ambassadors from around the world including a frilled dragon, kangaroo, golden eagle, screech owl, alligator and more. Families can learn all about skulls and skeletons of vertebrate animals, the diverse life of our oceans and get a drawing lesson from Drew Brockington, the author and illustrator of CatStronauts.

Thursday, February 20 through Saturday, February 22, kids will explore space and science. Families can explore our solar system with a planetary virtual reality experience and discover the science of baseball. There will be Mad Science shows, an augmented reality escape room and coding and robotics activities. Kids can also learn about Mars and Moon landers, baking cookies in space and the Apollo lunar samples.

Special guests include NASA astronaut Ricky Arnold, NASA flight director Allison Bollinger, Jarod Miller, a zoologist and naturalist who has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Conan O’Brien, along with his amazing animals, former NASA astronaut Mike Massimino, birder, educator and author Heather Wolf and planetary geologist Natalie Curren.

Kids Week programming partners include Dazzling Discoveries, Puppetry Arts, OrigamiUSA, Story Pirates, Brooklyn Music School, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square, the Museum of Interesting Things, WonderSpark Puppets, TheaterWorksUSA, the Climate Museum, Wild Encounters, the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, Two by Two Zoo, the Wildlife Conservation Society, Gazillion Bubble Show, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, Billion Oyster Project, Wildlife Theater Group, NYU Tandon and Columbia Engineering, Math Matters to Me, Cornell University, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Johnson Space Center and Marshall Space Flight Center, Curious On Hudson, Mad Science, the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center, ROBOFUN, the American Society of Civil Engineers, Jupiter Joe’s Sidewalk Astronomy, CUNYSAT-1 Lab, Rube Goldberg, the Columbia Space Initiative and more!

In addition, Intrepid Museum educators will lead live demonstrations, planetarium presentations and performances throughout each day.

Directions by NYC Metro Bus:
Take cross-town buses west. M34 (34th St.), M42 (42nd St.) or M50 (49th St.) to 12th Ave. and Hudson River. Intrepid is a short walk north from the M34 and M42. The M50 drops off directly in front of the Intrepid Museum.

Directions by NYC Metro Subway:
Take the A, C, E, N, Q, R, S, 1, 2, 3 or 7 train to 42nd St., then walk or take the M42 West bus to Hudson River (12th Ave). Walk north to Intrepid.

Directions from water:
Take New York Water Taxi to Pier 84 and walk one block north to the Intrepid Museum. From New Jersey, take the New York Waterway to Midtown (38th St.) and walk north on 12th Avenue to the Museum.
