The Very Best of NYC Upcoming Events

Here are just a few of the best events coming up in our community!

Hey, bookworms! The 7th Annual Rainbow Book Fair will be held at the Holiday Inn Midtown on Apr 18. We're so looking forward to this exciting literary event—the biggest, longest-running LGBT book fair in the nation. Last year's event featured more than 100 publishers, writers, poets, editors, booksellers and the hundreds of readers who love and buy their books. Open to the public, Rainbow Book Fair also offers book discounts and giveaways. It’s technically free, but bring a small suggested donation and a few friends!

It’s been an unbelievable year for marriage equality, so celebrate with Marriage Equality USA at their 17th National Gala on Apr 20. Check the organization’s website (marriageequality.org) for details to be announced. This event brings together LGBT community members and leaders, straight allies, people in the entertainment industry, corporate leaders and celebrities for the nation’s largest fundraiser that specifically promotes marriage equality. Guests enjoy an awards ceremony, silent auction, swanky dinner and live entertainment.

Stay tuned for deets on the Brooklyn Community Pride Center’s upcoming Community Leadership Awards and Gala on Apr 23 at Dumbo Loft. Expect a spectacular evening with a reception for VIP ticket holders, cocktail hour, awards program and after-party! Check lgbtbrooklyn.org for updates.

On May 9, the 26th Annual GLAAD Media Awards comes to the Waldorf-Astoria New York. The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives. This year’s event is presented by Delta Air Lines, Hilton, Ketel One Vodka and Wells Fargo. Enjoy cocktails, a silent auction, dinner, awards ceremony and an always-fabulous after-party!
