Video of the Day: Lesbian Journalist Mary Emily O’Hara Reports on Oregon’s New Gender-Neutral ID

Xtory in the making.

Out NBC journalist Mary Emily O’Hara broke the story of Oregon’s being the first-ever state to legalize a gender other than male or female on a government-issued ID, and she was a guest on MNSBC over the weekend to discuss how this is both a historic moment and ideal for intersex, trans, genderqueer and non-binary individuals who can now have an “X” on their licenses instead of “male” or “female.”

“Really no one has an issue with it, which is kind of incredible,” O’Hara said, noting that on June 15, the Oregon Transportation Commission will vote to make the change, and, “if everything goes as planned,” this new gender ID marker will be available as of July 3rd.
