The Wizard’s a Fairy, Reveals Harry Potter Author

Albus Dumbledore, a major character in the Harry Potter series, was gay.

Best-selling Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling, outed Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of the fictional Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry attended by her characters, in an appearance at New York City’s Carnegie Hall on Oct 19. The British near-billionaire was in the United States for her first book tour in seven years on behalf of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the latest and final installment of the wildly popular series.

When a young fan asked whether Dumbledore, described as mysterious and troubled in his past, had ever found true love, Rowling replied that he was in love with one of his male colleagues, Gellert Grindelwald, who later became a dark rival.

The audience at Carnegie Hall reportedly erupted into applause at the revelation, which leads one to wonder why Rowling kept this fact about Dumbledore secret for so long.
