Fashion Forward, Stonewall Honors 2011, 23rd Annual Gypsy of the Year Competition, Parsons Dance

Bank of America and GMHC present Fashion Forward at the Metropolitan Pavilion Nov 17. Guests will enjoy a cocktail reception, luxury auction and runway presentation. Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and Brad Goreski, this year’s designers include Chris Benz, Thom Browne, Marlon Gobel, Sally Lapointe, Zang Toi, Timo Weiland and VPL. Proceeds benefit the essential programs and services offered by Gay Men’s Health Crisis.

On Dec 1 the Stonewall Community Foundation invites you to the Highline Ballroom for Stonewall Honors 2011, a cocktail reception, awards program, and dance party honoring the contributions of lesbians and other leaders to the LGBT community of New York. The evening will begin with an elegant cocktail party leading into the recognition program (emcee and entertainment to be announced). Past honorees include GO Magazine’s publisher Amy Lesser and The Honorable Christine Quinn.

The 23rd Annual Gypsy of the Year Competition, one of the hottest and most anticipated tickets of the fall season, plays the New Amsterdam Theater Dec 5-6. New York’s most talented “gypsies,” chorus members from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, join in a competition/variety show for six weeks of intensive fundraising to benefit Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) come to a close.

Head out to Flushing Meadows Park for Parsons Dance at the Queens Theatre in the Park Dec 10-11. For more than 25 years, this internationally renowned company, under the artistic direction of dancer/choreographer David Parsons, has been building new audiences for contemporary dance by creating engaging and uplifting works of extraordinary artistry.
