The Emery Awards, Lesbian Night at Will Clark’s Bingo and more!

Save the date for these upcoming events in November. The Anti-Violence Project holds their 13th Annual Courage Awards honoring Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Tony Kushner, Weblog creators Bil Browning (Bilerico.com), Joe Jervis (Joe.My.God.blogspot.com), Pam Spaulding (pamshouseblend.com) and Andy Towle, (towleroad.com); and Clifford Chance US LLP , for their commitment to LGBTQ rights and extensive work on behalf of the communities AVP serves.

Hetrick-Martin presents The Emery Awards at Cipriani Wall Street on Nov 10. The Emery Awards provide an opportunity for friends of Hetrick-Martin to come together with new supporters and honor those individuals and corporations who mirror Hetrick-Martin’s mission and have truly shown a dedication LGBTQ youth. This year HMI celebrates 30 years as the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit agency serving LGBTQ youth.

Join the Center as they celebrate their 12th Annual Women’s Event on Nov 7. Enjoy an evening of cocktails, dining, fabulous silent auction items, dancing and more at this annual gala and premier women’s celebration. This year the Center is thrilled to honor Broadway producer Robyn Goodman, and Congregation Beth Simchat Torah Spiritual Leader Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum. The Center is also proud to introduce their new, first-ever in Center history, woman Executive Director, Glennda Testone.

Head down to the World Financial Center Winter Garden for the CANstruction Design Competition and Charity Event Nov 20–Dec 2. Forty of New York City’s top architectural and engineering firms will compete to see who can build the most incredible sculpture made entirely from full cans of food. At the close of the exhibit the structures will be dismantled and all of the canned food will be donated to City Harvest for distribution to emergency feeding programs. The public is invited to bring canned food to donate at the time of the exhibit.

CAVE known "on the street" for offering the best training in New York for Butoh dance presents the Fourth CAVE New York Butoh Festival—Butoh-Kan Phase. The Festival will include workshops in beginning and advanced Butoh training by international master teachers including Yuko Kaseki, Ko Murobushi, Mari Osanai and Daisuke Yoshimoto. Performancer featured this year are Furnace, NY Butoh-Kan Masters and NY Emerging Artist Series.
