The Very Best of NYC TV/Film

“Off and Running” and CINEMAROSA

On Feb 24, the POV Independent Film series screens Off and Running at the Brooklyn Museum. Directed by Nicole Opper, this coming-of-age film about an African American track star from Brooklyn raised by Jewish lesbians is presented in collaboration with the award-winning documentary series POV.

Join CINEMAROSA, Queens’ only queer film series, on Mar 20 at the Queens Museum of Art for a special screening of two lesbian family-themed flicks. The documentary Over the Moon follows one lesbian couple’s attempts to bring a baby into the world and the accompanying challenges, trials, and emotional highs and lows. Then, check out Hens and Chicks, a short film that explores the meaning of family and the truth about identity. Sweet and funny, this coming-of-age story plays with the universal questions we ask ourselves as parents, children, and human beings.
