The Very Best of NYC Music

Lucy Wainwright Roche, Ani DiFranco, Stories With Piano, An Evening
With Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin

Native New Yorker Lucy Wainwright Roche returns to NYC to celebrate her 30th birthday at the Highline Ballroom Dec 16. Daughter of singer-songwriters Loudon Wainwright III and Suzzy Roche, she initially chose to bypass the family career in music to teach elementary school, but in 2007 decided to pursue a career in music full-time. In addition to touring the country opening for such acts as the Indigo Girls, Dar Williams, Girlyman, Amos Lee, her father Loudon Wainwright III, and brother Rufus Wainwright, Lucy has sung backup for Grammy-nominated artist Neko Case, including an appearance with Case on The Late Show with David Letterman. Roche released her debut album, Lucy, in October 2010.

Ani DiFranco brings her unique brand of folk rock to Town Hall with special guest Melissa Ferrick Nov 19. DiFranco has written hundreds of songs, played thousands of shows, captured the imaginations of legions of followers, and jammed with folkies, orchestras, rappers, rock and roll hall-of-famers, jazz musicians, poets, pop superstars, storytellers and a martial arts legend. Opting to release her music on her own terms, she created Righteous Babe Records which gives her the artistic freedom so evident in her most recent album Red Letter Year.

Two-time Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth brings her Stories With Piano to the legendary Feinstein’s at Loews Regency Nov 15-26. Known for her roles as Morticia in The Addams Family, Velma in Chicago and Nickie in Sweet Charity, she’s an accomplished film and TV actress who earned two Emmy Awards for playing Lilith on Cheers. In her new show she sings her favorite songs by Kurt Weill, Kander & Ebb, Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim and Tom Waits.

Tony Award winners Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin reunite on Broadway for An Evening With Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin Nov 16-Jan 13. Two Broadway legends that first appeared together giving Tony Award winning performances in Evita, LuPone and Patinkin bring their critically acclaimed concert to the Barrymore Theatre. Much more than a collecton of stage hits, this show is a funny, passionate, intimate and unique musical love story told entirely through a masterful selection of some of the greatest songs ever written for the stage.
