The Very Best of NYC Dance

GRRlesque, Queer Tango Festival and more…

Dixon Place presents Anti-Diva Fridays in the Lounge, hosted by the hottest downtown girlfriend duo, Liz Liguori and Jessie Mann. With their specialty drinks, sexy bartending flair and famous LGBT (and straight!) following, Liz and Jessie have made Anti-Diva the Dixon Place party to be ‘scene.’ The pair always has surprise performers, smoking DJs and a super cool vibe. This regular party has attracted the arts and performance crowd from all over the city.

Turn off that flat screen TV, pull out the top hat and come to Late Nite @ DNA on Oct 22 and 23. Dance New Amsterdam’s GRRRlesque is all women, all queer, and all for you: music, performance art, burlesque and faux Liza Minnelli there’s-no-business-like-it entertainment. Saucy saxophones, hilarious hula hooping, rapping vixens and more will lure you into a world where no “real” housewives of any town can compete. Curated and hosted by Victoria Libertore with performances by Julia Steele Allen, Janessa Clark/KILTERBOX, Fetchin’ Gretchen, Kelley Sanford a.k.a. Kstar, Miss Saturn and Tina Richerson.

From Oct 8-10, Rainbow Tango will host New York City’s First Annual Queer Tango Festival. The Festival will welcome long-time dancers from the LGBT community as well as allies who are interested in open-role tango. Got two left feet? The show offers opportunities to explore tango, even for non-dancers. The Queer Tango Festival presents a showcase of same-sex dance in New York City along with films, art exhibit, forums and lectures on the history of same-sex tango.
