Don’t miss I Transcender: The Gender Expression of Haitian Gods and Goddesses at WOW Café Theater Mar. 11-13. Created by MilDred Gerestant, the artist formerly known as DRED and choreographed by the fabulous and talented Sokhna Heathyre Mabin, I Transcender is a mix of dance, poetry and music experiencing the spiritual dance expressions of the fabulous Haitian God/desses: sexy Danbala, cross dressing Baron Samedi and beautiful Erzulie. Partial proceeds will benefit the people of Haiti.

Queens Theatre in the Park (QTP) presents the Best of MOMIX Mar. 20 & 21. Known internationally for presenting work of exceptional inventiveness and physical beauty, MOMIX is a company of dancer-illusionists under the direction of Moses Pendleton. For 20 years it has been celebrated for its ability to conjure up a world of surrealistic images using props, light, shadow, humor and the human body. Highlights of the Best of MOMIX include their international sensations: “Opus Cactus”, “Lunar Sea” and others, along with several of the best pieces from their Queens Theatre performances of “Baseball”, “Passion” and “MOMIX in Orbit”.

Celebrate and support SYREN Modern Dance‘s 7th season with music, cocktails and more at the beautiful Chelsea Art Museum Mar. 11. The benefit will feature live music, a raffle, and a silent auction full of visual artwork. Proceeds will benefit SYREN’s mission to produce high caliber, accessible work to spark a continued interest of the public in modern dance. Don’t miss their 7th season featuring collaborations with Artemis Chamber Ensemble and Steeplechase Arts & Productions.

Amy Marshall Dance Company celebrates their 10th Anniversary with three World Premieres at The Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater Mar. 25-28. The evening begins with “English Suite,” a classically-based dance set to music by H.H. Parry and continues with the World Premiere of “A Gift,” featuring artistic director Amy Marshall dancing seven months pregnant with her third child expressing the purity and simplicity of the experience of growing a new life; and the World Premiere of “Riding the Purple Twilight,” which explores the sensuous journey of a young couple racing full throttle towards fame and success.

Corella Ballet Castilla Y Leon makes its U.S. debut at the New York City Center Mar. 17-20. The engagement will feature the U.S. premiere of “String Sextet”, Mr. Corella’s first choreography, performed to music by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky. The four-performance engagement will also feature a world premiere pas de deux by the flamenco dancer and choreographer María Pagés, featuring Angel Corella and Carmen Corella; the U.S. premiere of “Epimetheus” by company dancer by Russell Ducker; and Christopher Wheeldon’s DGV.
