State legislators in Hawaii voted to pass a bill legalizing same-sex marriage on November 12. Governor Neil Abercrombie, a Democrat, signed it into law one day later, making the state the 15th to expand marriage rights to all. Gay rights advocates celebrated the news in Honolulu.
