THE SCENE: The Very Best of NYC Nightlife

GO Magazone’s 2011 Pride Kick-Off and Nightlife Awards Nominations Bash

GO MAGAZINE’S 2011 PRIDE KICK-OFF AND NIGHTLIFE AWARDS NOMINATIONS BASH
Wednesday, june 15, district 36 nightclub

And The Nominees Are…

They pour your shots, keep the bass turned up and probably know your ex-girlfriend. They are the reigning queens of New York City lesbian nightlife. And we are here to honor them, every year like clockwork, at GO’s Annual Nightlife Awards–a.k.a. the “Oscars of Lesbian Nightlife”– coming up this fall.

But first, it’s time to nominate the ladies who keep your late-night calendar full–after all, just like the Academy, before we distribute the honors, we need to tally the votes. Join GO and celebrate Pride month at our Pride Kick-off and Awards Nominations Bash, where we officially unveil the list of nominees and categories and then roll out the red carpet and raise a glass like only GO Magazine can.

On hand to help us celebrate Pride season and the lucky nominees will be, live and in person, some very special castmembers of Showtime’s hit series The Real L Word. Yes, your favorite naughty Angelenos will descend on New York on the heels of the premiere of season two of the show. There’s no need to make drama when Tracy, Francine, Romi, Whitney, Claire and Sara are in the house. And we’re dying to know if Whitney can commit and what Tracy’s secret is for being so damn cute. Come find out!

Your girlfriend will be there. Your ex-girlfriend probably will, too. But don’t worry–1,000+ women will pack the dance floor, so they’ll never see each other. Rotating DJs spin 80s, house, hip hop and more jams to help you get down. Let’s face it–no one does nightlife like New York. So press that skinny tie, shine your stilettos and make some noise for the nominees.

EDITORS’ PICKS – Featuring
Brooklyn and Queens Pride Parties and DYKE MARCH FUNDRAISERS

Punk Rock Dykes: Dyke March Benefit Show at Public Assembly, June 4
Before the Dyke March can hit the streets, get rowdy at this all-ages benefit show.  Come out to see stellar bands like Sandy + the Rats, Aggie Doone, Circadian Clock and GO’s personal fav, Hooray for Goodbye. Stuff your face with baked goods while you rock out–because even the baddest grrrls need some sugar.

Queens Pride Party at Bum Bum Bar, June 5
Pride is all about options, and there are sure to be more than a few shakin’ it at the only club just for ladies in the borough that brought you LL Cool J. This Queens hot spot knows how to get down. Music, margaritas and mujeres all await you at the uber-sexy digs.

3rd Annual Las Reinas Queens Pride After Party at Chibcha, June 5
Lori and Marcela–the foxy promoters behind Las Reinas–lay it down for the third year in a row after Queens Pride. Between them and DJs Culi and Roze Royze, this is the perfect nightcap to your Pride weekend. Saunter just two blocks past the end of the parade and you’re in for a treat.

Laid Brooklyn Pride at Southpaw, June 11
Brooklyn Pride is like no other, and Laid is the original queer dance party. Featuring a performance by People At Parties followed by local DJs Nasty Esq, Roze-Royze, Noa D, the beats go all night. So break out your glitter and irony and get ready to go all-out, Brooklyn style.

Brooklyn’s Playground at Ocean’s Eight, June 11
Lezplay Prod, LoverGirlNYC, Exclusive Entertainment, and DJ Missy B join forces to bring you guaranteed fierceness. And we can barely contain ourselves over the surprise guest.  If you’re looking for something different, check out the party that lets you show off your bowling, ping pong and pool skills before hitting the dance floor. DJs Missy B, Trini, Debbie and Bonnie Danger keep it fresh. Come to the only Pride party where happy hour lasts 10 hours straight.

Azucar! – A Queer Latin Dance Party at One Last Shag, June 11
The venue formerly known as “Sweet Revenge” is home to a new dance party–and what better time to kick it off than Pride? Start it up with a tasty BBQ, followed by a salsa lesson. Then DJ Shomi Noise makes bootyshakers happy with her oh-so-fly mashups.

3rd Annual Happy Hour for the NYC Dyke March at Stonewall, June 14
A whole month of Pride means that you can party your little gay heart out long before the march down 5th Ave! Come support your fellow dykes and drink to equality at the beloved Village hot spot. If you love ladies and raffles, you won’t want to miss this. Ms. magazine subscriptions, a buzz-worthy fun pack from Babeland and oodles of books are just waiting to be claimed.
