The Very Best of NYC Dance

Suzanne Beahr, Dance Iquail, New York City Ballet and New York Theatre Ballet!

On Feb 6, at the Danspace Project inside St Mark's Church, see the world premiere of RISE—a full evening of dance presented by the Suzanne Beahrs Dance troupe. The choreography focuses on letting go and uncovering who we are underneath it all; the music includes the work of Chopin, marching band drumlines and much more.

At Ailey Citigroup Theater on Feb 13 and 14, Dance Iquail presents the premiere of director/choreographer Iquail Shaheed's "Black Swan," which explores the experience of the black ballerina as a window to issues of race, identity and isolation, set to the music of Nina Simone.

New York Theatre Ballet, the nation's most widely-seen chamber ballet ensemble, will present four ballets at New York Live Arts as part of the series "Legends and Visionaries 2015" in an unforgettable evening. The program will include two world premieres by Nicolo Fonte and Pam Tanowitz. Catch it Feb 18 thru 21.

Are you a serious dance lover? Get ready.  New York City Ballet performs the All Balanchine Winter Program now thru Mar 1. (It’s all Balanchine, all the time!) Even if you just enjoy ballet a little and you’re not a true aficionado, this selection of Balanchine’s best is the perfect night out for you. Uncontested masterworks, these ballets present vastly differing styles for a Balanchine experience that simply cannot be missed.
