NY Nightlife: The Scene March 13-April 3

The hottest clubs, coolest bars, and everything in between. For all the great St. Patrick’s day parties see the our events section.

LATINA LOVIN’ IN WOODSIDE
Boom boom boom boom, you’ll want to be in this room. It’s Queens’ one and only Latin-themed lesbian nightspot, Bum Bum Bar. Every Thursday through Sunday, mix and mingle with the spiciest women of the borough and beyond. Shoot pool, learn how to salsa, dance to the tunes of hot-hot-hot DJ Boli, or just lounge in the comfortable and friendly bar. Want to spend your weekend in Woodside? On Fridays check out Viernes Social, on Saturdays roll in for Sabado De Rumba, and on Sunday play at Bum Bum Night. And if you’re that hardcore about Bum Bum Bar, you’re a perfect candidate to represent the Latina Lesbianas in the Mz Bum Bum Bar competition on Sunday, March 29. Don your hottest swimsuit and going-out attire and you could win $250, plus free drinks and admission for one year. Muy caliente!

PICTURE PERFECT

Now running strong for five years, queers of all kinds are still hitting up the hottest Tuesday night alternative party Snapshot, now located at the ultra-cool Delancey Lounge. March came in like a lion, but it’s ready to go out like a lamb, and that means that it’s almost time for the smoker-friendly rooftop lounge to open up to the Lower East Side night sky. Til’ then, there’s plenty going on indoors to keep the cool kids occupied, like the St. Patty’s celebration on Tuesday March 17. DJ Stacy will be stepping in to keep the decks spinning and everybody dancing. Down a Guinness or two, and your lapsed Irish brogue should kick in in no time. Actually, make it one Guinness and one shot of Jameson—on special for $10 for the pair all night long. To keep everyone in the mood for local lore, Gangs of New York screens.

ANIMAL HOUSE
Brooklyn’s acclaimed tapas restaurant, owned and operated by some of our Sapphic sisters, is serving up a new womens’ night of food, libations, music and more. Every Thursday starting at 10pm, stop by this scrumptious small plate hotspot for Grrrl’s Night, a new weekly gathering which features some of the best drink specials this side of the East River. It’s Happy Hour all night, featuring $4 draft, well and shot specials and $7 wine specials. Get there early and you can enjoy some of their signature dishes as well, such as creamy polenta with portabella and bleu cheese, grilled keilbasa, and sauteed calamari with parmesan, tomato, arugala and roasted garlic. Because a woman with a refined palate is the best kind of woman (in our very humble opinion).

DON’T YOU WANT SOMEBODY TO LOVE?
You’ll find her at LoverGirlNYC—the long-running and much beloved Saturday night event at Club Cache. Known for drawing some of the most beautiful women in the city, LoverGirl has some exciting theme nights in store this month. On March 14, celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by wearing your hottest green garb and indulging in delish green apple martinis at $8 a pop. The gorgeous go-go Moronie will be have you all singing “Danny Girl” til dawn. March 21 is the amazing LoverGirl dance contest. Learn the moves from dance-pole diva Mona, then strut your stuff in front of the crowd. Are you the best? Then you’ll take home a cash prize—plus the opportunity to come back as a dance pole diva yourself! And on March 28, stop by to celebrate the release of Keri Hilson’s new album In a Perfect World. LoverGirl will be distributing free CDs of her debut, which features the hot chart-climbing hit single “Turnin’ Me On.”If these events at LoverGirl don’t turn you on, nothing can.

STONEWALL SOIREES
The legendary Stonewall Inn is the happening spot to be this month. Thursdays are by far the most enticing, with party gal Danielle’s Anything Goes. Wet t-shirt contests, body shots on the pool table, and $3 Jell-O shots are some of what make this night incredibly devilish. Our very own celesbian DJ Stacy is on the decks, keeping the ladies twirling and grooving as the whipped-cream-armed shot girls strut by. On Thursday March 26 (and every last Thursday of the month), Jell-O Wrestling will have you channeling your best Mickey Rourke impression. Truly, at Danielle’s event, anything goes. Then on Fridays, hang upstairs with Sir Sabrina and her crew at Lesbo a Go Go. DJ Stacy spins once again, and the hiiii-larious Poppi Kramer cracks you up from behind the bar. And on the last Friday of every month (that’d be March 27), promoter Hana brings her long-running GirlNation party from midtown all the way to the West Village for GirlNation Downtown. Stop by some time this month and remember why we love the Stonewall—hot girls. Oh yeah, and that really awesome bit of history, too.

GARDEN GIRLS
Go ahead, take a bite out of the forbidden fruit known as Eden, the sexy, sophisticated soiree every Wednesday at Country Club. Beautiful babes have a habit of hitting this weekly hangout hosted by the lovely Maggie C. Reserve a private banquette for you and your sweetie, where bottle service and a bit of lavish seclusion await. Or get down on the dance floor to the beats of resident DJ shErOck. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find that a gorgeous Madame and Eve have been waiting there for you this whole time. But if you want to woo them, a word of advice: when you set foot in this garden of Eden, make sure you put on your finest fig leaves—attendees are encouraged to dress to impress.
