Fierce & Fabulous 2008 Finals  @ Duvet

Yes, ladies…it’s back. The most exciting lesbian competition is here and this year’s event is going to be sexier than ever. Beginning in March, 12 of NYC’s best lesbian bars and parties held preliminary contests to find the fiercest and most fabulous lesbian among their clientele. Now, the crème-de-la-crème of Henrietta Hudson, LovergirlNYC, Zen Lounge (Long Island), Snapshot and others will compete for the enviable title of “Mz Fierce and Fabulous 2008.”

The festivities get under way on Sunday, May 4 at Duvet, one of NYC’s hottest themed nightclubs. You might expect fun in the bedroom to come after the party, but not at Duvet, where there are beds a-plenty. DJ Susan Levine of Next Level Productions, the producer of the competition, will be on hand to spin all the hits. Drag king extraordinaire Wang Newton hosts this spectacular event, keeping you in stitches between the hot competition categories. The Fierce and Fabulous finals will showcase a sultry performance by Lori Michaels & The Girls, celesbian judges and some of New York’s hottest women.

Exhausted from all the fun? Curl up in the sheets at Duvet and have sweet dreams about the newly anointed Mz Fierce and Fabulous. Or better yet, make your own grab for the title. Some bars and parties are still holding preliminaries this month! Check our nightlife listings for details about the upcoming semifinals at Cattyshack, Chueca, girlNation, Liqhur Box, Rubyfruit, Stonewall and more.

Snapshot

It’s graduation day! *Snapshot* is turning four on April 15, and this party is going to bring back all of the fun memories of high school (except for those times when you got picked on for being in marching band). Try to remember the good times, especially the good music of the day. The beats will be poppin’ with noted DJs such as Storm, Noa D, Tease and Qi on the wheels of steel. The ol’ skool tracks will be pumping and the ladies will be grooving just like they did in 1999, or ’79, or ’04, whichever…we won’t try to guess your age. Regardless, you’ll have the chance to play some of those high school games, only this time you might have a bit more prowess at Seven Minutes in Heaven. Plus, Switch ‘n Play fulfills all your sordid and sexy cheerleader and football fantasies in costume as the high school stars we all used to lust after. This party will be better than any lame party from your heyday, because this time, there are no chaperones. Dance as close as you want, kiss whomever you like and make your Tuesday night one to remember.

West End Girls

Fall in love with Monday nights, with Coco O and Vanessa G’s fabulous new weekly party for girls in Hell’s Kitchen. West End Girls at HK Lounge will make the stress of day one of your work week feel like a distant memory. Their dynamic drink specials, specially prepared by Katie-from-the-’80s, will keep your body loose enough to grind of the beats of Sophia H, the new DJ who’s spinning her way through the NYC girl scene. Not a fan of the dance floor? Prefer to relax with a drink and enjoy the atmosphere? Lucky for you, go-go dancers Cherrybomb, Natalia and Persuasian will keep your eyes occupied and convince you that Monday night is an extension of the hot, hot weekend. Get your little slice of the party beginning April 14.

Drama

Next Level Productions’ Susan Levine is at it again: Not only is she producing hot booty pageant Mz Fierce and Fabulous, but she’s starting a brand new lesbian party at one of the steamiest boy clubs in town, Splash. With Levine in the DJ booth, lesbians are infiltrating this Chelsea spot on the second Sunday of every month. April 13 kicks off Drama by adding some to your Sunday night with go-go girls getting all soapy in Splash’s signature showers. Break a sweat on the dance floor and then go get wet. Just be ready to welcome serious drama into your Sunday routine.
