Music: The True Colors Soundtrack

Tommy Boy/Silver Label

At your next big gay dance party why not blast some tunes for a big gay cause? Tommy Boy Records’ Silver Label release of Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors soundtrack celebrates the great 2007 tour featuring the crème de la crème of out musicians. What’s not to like?

Artists spanning from the busty beauty of Beth Ditto
(of the Gossip) to the l’amour of Erasure have each contributed a
saucy number to this collectible compilation CD. One dollar will be donated to the Human Rights Campaign for each CD purchased and full album downloaded.

For those who were lucky enough to attend the NYC stop of the tour at Radio City during Pride week, spin this disc to reminisce. Remember Cyndi Lauper climbing through the crowd sporting a giant purple wig? Margaret Cho hosting? Rosie O’Donnell chiming in with the headliners? The magic is preserved here. One highlight is the climax of the show, when every artist joined together on stage for a choral rendition of the tour’s (and the CD’s) signature song.

For those who missed the concert, Tommy Boy has served up a consolation prize, with a few interesting twists. The “True Colors (Morel’s Pink Noise Mix)” and Erasure featuring Cyndi Lauper on “Early Bird” are two numbers specially recorded and remixed for this release.
