Let The Lesbian-Led ‘Hightown’ Be Your Next Quarantine Watch

“A federal Fishery Service Agent uses her gun and badge to seduce tourist chicks.”

Have you burned through every show on your quarantine watch-list? Did you already finish making your list of everything you want to see in season two of “The L Word: Generation Q?” Tired of all the shows with straight leads and straight supporting actors and straight everything? Well, Starz’s “Hightown” is here to save the day.

Set in Provincetown — which rests on the top tip of Cape Cod — “Hightown” features Monica Raymund (“Chicago Fire,” “The Good Wife,” “Lie To Me”) as Jackie Quiñones, a queer National Marine Fisheries Service agent who is struggling with alcohol and drug abuse due to her free-wheeling lifestyle. Quiñones’s life changes when she discovers a body on the beach, seemingly another death due to the opioid epidemic in Cape Cod. Thanks to the trauma the body brings her, Quiñones tries to take the first step toward getting better. That is, however, until she decides it’s up to her to solve the murder.

The official synopsis continues:

“Now at odds with Sergeant Ray Abruzzo, … an abrasive but effective member of the Cape Cod Interagency Narcotics Unit, Jackie starts to spiral. And she’s not alone. Ray, too, spins out of control; losing himself in the investigation. The lives of everyone connected to this murder crash and converge, reminding us just how complicated — and deadly — our addictions can be.”

Wikipedia really tantalizes us with this description: A federal Fishery Service Agent uses her gun and badge to seduce tourist chicks.

Aside from Raymund (who is, by the way, queer herself), the cast also features James Badge Dale (“Only the Brave”), Shane Harper (“Awkward,” “Good Luck Charlie”), Dohn Norwood (“Mindhunter”), Amaury Nolasco (“Prison Break”), Riley Voelkel (“The Originals”), and Atkins Estimond (“Lodge 49”).

Check out the official trailer below. “Hightown” premieres on May 17th on Starz, and you can bet that we’ll be watching!
