An Argentine friend of Holly and Magda once saw them together and gasped, “¿Como? Two bootches togeyther?” The two of them met at an Erase Errata show in Baltimore, where a friend of Holly’s pointed her in Magda’s direction. They hit it off immediately, and realized that they not only had mutual friends all over the country, but had also moved to Baltimore within days of each other. They were inseparable friends for a year and a half; then, 34 homemade dinners and 12 mixed CDs later, they gave in to the inevitable and got together. Holly proposed in the Priorat region of Spain last summer (Magda accepted) and their third anniversary is right around the corner. Among their shared and varied interests are cooking, travel, records, Turner Classic Movies, wine, comic books, dive bars, Scrabble, knitting, playing the drums and French bulldogs. But their relationship wouldn’t survive without frequent weekend getaways and dorking out over shared loves. Magda’s advice: “challenge your sweetie, but don’t forget to take each other to the movies.”
