Join global drag superstar and RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Sasha Velour this Sunday, August 9th, as she hosts her first-ever virtual drag event. “NightGowns FOREVER” is a free event featuring unreleased archival footage of performances from the drag artist’s critically-acclaimed Brooklyn drag show “NightGowns.”
The show is premiering in honor of the Brooklyn show’s fifth anniversary and will be a 3-hour long stream. Don’t expect the show to be boring because it’s long, though; it’ll be full of turns, tricks, and dips from over 20 other queens, including Drag Race alums Bob the Drag Queen, Peppermint, and Shea Coulee. The show will also be encouraging donations to benefit the Trans Justice Funding Project, For the GWORLS, NYC’s G.L.I.T.S. Inc., Chicago’s Brave Space Alliance, and The Okra Project.
The show is an extension of Sasha Velour’s “NightGowns,” an inclusive drag revue that provides drag performers of all creeds — queens, kings, trans, and gender noncomforming — the space to create the show of their dreams. The passion behind these performances is what allows the audience to bear witness to personal and innovative nights of drag theater.
“NightGowns” was founded in Brooklyn by Velour in 2015 and has since been adapted into a Quibi docu-series that was released in April. The Quibi series has been hailed as “among the most life-affirming shows you could find on any platform” by The New York Times, and the revue itself has been performed in New York City, Los Angeles, and London.
