Happy National Coming Out Day!
In a message posted on its website, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) writes that “Every coming out experience is unique and must be navigated in the way most comfortable for the individual. Whether it’s for the first time ever or the first time today, coming out can be an arduous journey. It is also a brave decision to live authentically.”
Multiple organizations, including the HRC, offer resources, guides, and support for individuals who are looking to come out who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, asexual or anything under the queer umbrella.
“Happy National Coming Out Day!” writes PFLAGNYC, an organization dedicated to helping LGBTQ+ kids and their families, on its Twitter platform. “We at PFLAGNYC celebrate all who are ready to come out and all who haven’t for any number of reasons. We’re here to support everyone wherever you are in your exploration.”

Another wrote, “You are valid no matter what anyone else says. [Whether] you are in the closet, out, or still figuring yourself out – you are so loved, you have a whole community behind you cheering you on every step of the way!”
Others used the platform to offer some levity.
“On this national coming out day, I remember my dad telling me he didn’t care if I brought home a woman or a man,” writes activist Olivia Julianna. “But I would be disowned if I ever brought someone home who didn’t like BBQ.”
