Get A Glimpse Of Ruby Rose As Batwoman In This Trailer

Be still our lesbian hearts!

Our first lesbian superhero, Batwoman (played by Ruby Rose, obvs), premiered on the CW during the last year’s “Elseworlds,” a superhero mega-crossover event. And when news broke that Batwoman would be getting her own spinoff, queer ladies went wild for the chance to see more of Rose taking names and kicking ass. While we have been patiently waiting for the show to premiere, the CW gave us a new teensy taste of what we can expect in the form of a teaser trailer released on Twitter.

In the trailer, we catch a glimpse of Rose as Batwoman peering out from a roof while the bat single shines. She then turns around and looking directly into the camera from behind her mask. And of course, she’s dressed in her signature red and black bodysuit and cape.

Batwoman, in both the comics and the show, is a lesbian, which makes it a perfect role for queer actor Rose. According to the DC comics, the CW show will follow Kate Kane and her alter-ego batwoman she “soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

We are anxious to see how Batwoman’s storyline integrates her identity and so excited to root for our first lesbian superhero. It doesn’t hurt, of course, that we would be happy to watch Rose stare moodily into the camera any day of the week.

There’s no official release for “Batwoman,” yet, but if you’re dying to check out Rose as Kate Kane, check out last year’s Elseworlds crossover to get a taste of what to expect from the upcoming series.
