Clinton, Obama to appear on Logo’s "Gay Debate"

Democratic hopefuls scheduled to participate in debate centered on LGBT issues

On August 9th, 2007 the leading democratic candidates will come together to participate in a debate, sponsored by the Logo Network and the Human Rights Campaign that will center upon LGBT issues affecting the upcoming presidential election. So far, Senators Hillary Clinton and  Barack Obama, as well as John Edwards, are slated to appear. Mike Gravel, Alaska’s outspoken Senator and another democratic hopeful is also involved after making a complaint. Initially he was told he did not meet the fundraising threshold of $100,000.

Never before have high-level political candidates been brought together in a public forum to concentrate solely on LGBT issues. The upcoming debate is an indication that these presidential hopefuls are beginning to understand the power of the LGBT vote. Initially the debate was intended to be bipartisan, but Republican candidates declined the invitation.

The debate will stream at LOGOOnline.com as well as on Logo’s 24/7 cable channel beginning August 9th at 9pm ET/6pm PT.
