Cher — the legendary singer, actress, and overall icon — is throwing her hat into the political ring. The star is set to headline a virtual LGBTQ+ fundraiser for presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden on August 31st.
Along with former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, and Representative David Cicilline of Rhode Island, Cher will dazzle and delight with her high-energy, over-the-top performances.
Cher has been vocal about her support for Joe Biden. After the candidate’s nomination acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, the singer tweeted out support in her typical all-caps style. “Am proud supporter of Joe Biden,” she writes. “Love, respect, & believe in Joe. I will never stop believing in Joe.“

According to Deadline, tickets for the event start at $1,000 and go upwards into the range of $100,000. Anyone who donates over $50,000 will have the chance to participate in something the campaign is calling a “virtual clutch.”
The virtual LGBTQ+ fundraiser with Cher is just one of the many events that the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris campaign is set to roll out over the next several weeks.
“Will & Grace” stars Debra Messing and Eric McCormack are set to moderate a conversation on “the value of women voters and leaders,” featuring Representative Lucy McBath of Georgia, Representative Abby Finkenauer of Iowa, and Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell of Florida. The event — scheduled for tonight, August 26th — costs $100 to attend.
Jennifer Garner will also show her support on September 8th in a virtual fundraiser alongside Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, with tickets set at $250 per person.
And on September 14th, Cyndi Lauper is scheduled to perform at another LGBTQ+ event that features Representative Sharice Davids of Kansas and Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago, along with Buttigieg once again. Tickets for that event cost $100.
