One person is dead and another in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck at a Pride parade in Wilton Manors, Florida.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. E.T. as the parade was getting started. A local news affiliate reports that the driver of the pickup — which had been lined up along with the floats — hit the gas and struck two spectators. The victims were taken to a local hospital, where one remains in critical condition.
The local affiliate also reports that the truck narrowly missed hitting a convertible that carried U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), who was taking part in the parade.
Authorities have not yet stated whether or not this was a deliberate act. The cause of the incident is under investigation. GO Magazine will update this story as additional information becomes available.
