Valerie Perez was only seeking a good deal the night she met Stacy Ledwith, but she got so much more. She was at a club, and the bartender told her that if she was there for the DJ, she’d get half-price drinks. So when DJ Stacy walked in, “I gave her a big kiss as if we were old friends.” She got those half-price drinks, “and then some!”

At first, Stacy’s profession proved to be a challenge for the budding couple. A director of catering, Valerie values her independence. “It was hard to be introduced as ‘the DJ’s girlfriend,’” she said. But Stacy was sensitive to Valerie’s concerns, and always made sure she didn’t leave her out. “It made me so secure,” Valerie said. “Now I don’t mind that she is out until 5am DJing for hundreds of women at a time!”

Stacy is enamored of Valerie’s smile, which she says lights up a room. “She is the kind of girl everyone wants to be around in good times and bad.” And Valerie loves Stacy’s tenacity and drive. Plus, “she has a childlike quality that makes her so much fun to be with.” They credit their relationship’s success to trust, and above all, being sweet to one another. That manifests in the surprise notes they leave each other in the refrigerator, cabinets, even in shoes.

One of their favorite memories as a couple was taking pictures for their wedding. As they walked in Central Park and posed on their block, strangers stopped and cheered for them. That’s when they realized “how lucky we are and how grateful to be in the best city in the world together.”
