The Very Best of NYC Music

Big Gay Country Holiday, Toshi Reagon Birthday Concert and The Year of the Queer

Join the Lesbian and Gay Big Apple Corps for this year’s concert, “Make the Yuletide Gay”! It’s a “toe-tapping, tinsel-topped tribute to the music of dance!” on Dec 12. The concert features music from Shostakovich's Folk Dances, A Chorus Line, plus holiday faves including selections from Tchaikovsky's 19th century classic, The Nutcracker.

Yeah, he’s straight and a dude, but there are so many reasons to love Justin Timberlake, so let’s just make him an honorary lesbian, OK? At least on Dec 14. The 20/20 Experience World Tour returns to rock Brooklyn’s Barclays Center thanks to overwhelming demand. And if you haven’t already, why not download his latest album The 20/20 Experience—The Complete Experience, which has sold more than six million copies worldwide.

Rufus and Martha Wainwright's Noel Nights at Town Hall is truly one of the most musically magical events of the year. After a three-year hiatus from NYC (shame on you, Wainwright siblings!) the critically acclaimed show is making a grand return on Dec 17. This superlative night will feature performances by a number of exciting guests, including Cyndi Lauper and Justin Vivian Bond! Noel Nights benefits the Kate McGarrigle Foundation.

Ready for a Big Gay Country Holiday! Get to Littlefield on Dec 19 for an entertaining night of queer country holiday cheer! This show will feature the magnificent talents of Karen and The Sorrows, Small Talk, Kings, and Julia Weldon.

Rejoice in the voices of LGBT musicians throughout history and in the 21st century by attending this first-of-its-kind event at Joe’s Pub on Jan 3.

Toshi Reagon's 31st Annual Birthday Concert will rock Joe's Pub for a few days this winter and that’s good news. Community faves Toshi Reagon and BIGLovely are returning to Joe’s Pub on Jan 21 thru Jan 25 for Toshi’s 31st annual birthday celebration. Playing six performances, Toshi's amazing band includes some of NYC's very best musicians, collectively known as BIGLovely. It’ll be an event you won’t soon forget!
