100 Women We Love Class of 2010

As the first decade of the new millennium comes to an end, we take a moment to celebrate 100 out lesbians who have made the past year one of inspiring change and amazing progress.

Maro Hagopian

Born in Detroit, raised in Las Vegas and now residing in Brooklyn, Maro Hagopian’s celebrity, lifestyle and portrait photography has been featured in the New York Times, Spin Magazine, the Village Voice and TimeOut New York. For years, Maro has been the official photographer for several premiere New York City parties, including Choice C*nts, Banned and Bowie Ball. Her style employs vivid color to capture the emotional impact, energy, and spiritual and sexual allure of her subjects. “I am so lucky that the women who let me photograph them can feel safe enough to express themselves and their sexuality in front of my camera,” she says. Emphasizing the idea that freedom and confidence are gorgeous in every shape, color, form and size, Maro has contributed to giving the queer community more visibility and exposure. -EI
