100 Women We Love Class of 2010

As the first decade of the new millennium comes to an end, we take a moment to celebrate 100 out lesbians who have made the past year one of inspiring change and amazing progress.

KS Stevens

Playwright and producer KS Stevens recently took home the Miss LEZ 2009 title in the annual New York City queer pageant produced by nightlife impresario Murray Hill. Stevens has enjoyed successful off-off Broadway productions of her plays Yellow Lens and Butch Mamas, the latter a well-crafted ensemble comedy that focused on the sticky business of lesbian reproduction and insemination, which ran for two weeks at the WOW Café Theater. Stevens is generous with her talents. Her latest venture, the web series Queer Arts Now, which she co-produces and co-hosts, focuses on other LGBT artists in NYC. Stevens says, “It is my hope that my works inspire dialogue and motivate individuals to look at characters, situations and stereotypes with fresh eyes, so that we can empathize and have more respect for ourselves and each other.” -CB
