100 Women We Love: Class of 2009

Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

Kathleen
Warnock

Kathleen Warnock is one of those people who does so much so well; travel guide editor by day, a playwright and reading series curator the rest of the time, Warnock’s most recent addition to her resume is as the new editor of the popular Best Lesbian Erotica series. “You rarely see the word ‘ejaculate’ in travel guides,” Warnock said when asked about the differences and similarities between her day job and her
latest gig, “though you see words like ‘mattress’ ‘Jacuzzi’ and ‘massage’ in both. A surprising amount of erotica takes place in hotel rooms.” An award-winning playwright, Warnock’s work has been produced in New York at the Emerging Artists Theatre and at the Absolut International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival. She is also the curator of the Robert Chesley/Jane Chambers Playwrights Project at TOSOS (The Other Side of Silence) Theatre. Her monthly reading series, Drunken! Careening! Writers!, at the venerable New York literary spot KGB Bar, features a cross-genre sampling of some of the best writers out there. -CB

Remember, these are in no particular order because we love them all!
