100 Women We Love: Class of 2009

Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

DJ Stacy

DJ Stacy is an established figure on New York City’s lesbian club scene, spinning at clubs and parties such as Stonewall, GirlNation and Belles of Belleville. This month, she becomes an internet talk radio host with her own weekly show called Listen to Me on crowdmoverzradio.com. With special guests each week, Stacy will discuss everything from local events in the community to gay marriage and human rights and, yes, she will also spin some music. Stacy also gives back to her community, having donated her DJ
services at events for HRC and Braking the Cycle. She says, “I love to make people happy and my music allows me to do that.” On June 15, Stacy will spin at the historic Stonewall 40th anniversary party. -CB

Remember, these are in no particular order because we love them all!
