100 Women We Love: Class of 2009

Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

Cynthia Nixon

New Yorker Cynthia Nixon was propelled to international stardom by her role as lawyer Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City. The actress, activist and mom of two, is also a vocal supporter of same-sex marriage. Nixon recently announced her engagement to long-time girlfriend Christine Marinoni, whom she has said she wants to marry in her home, after New York State passes a bill legalizing same-sex marriage. She is optimistic that this will happen in the near future, recently declaring in an interview on Larry King Live, “time is really on our side and we have to remember how far our country has come in such a short space of time. I think people are really getting comfortable with the idea.” – CM

Remember, these are in no particular order because we love them all!
