Monica Meyer

As executive director of OutFront Minnesota, the state’s leading LGBT civil rights organization, Monica Meyer is at the heart of the campaign to defeat the state’s proposed constitutional amendment to ban marriage for same-sex couples. She coordinates political strategy and grassroots organizing, conducts training for activists and provides crucial research to lawmakers as they debate equality. “I hope through my work I am able to support and advance powerful organizing. I think that by working to address homophobia and transphobia on a daily basis in cities and rural areas, we can create a world where people no longer fear discrimination, isolation or violence based on who they are and who they love. I am inspired by the hope of a world that truly celebrates LGBT people and our families,” Meyer says. “I feel really lucky that I get to go to work every day and meet inspiring, courageous people working endlessly for justice.” –KL
